Pattern of July 4, 1864 cartridge box with "US" embossing on the outer front flap. This version was produced from July 4th, 1864, to the end of the war. This is the only pattern box that had inspector marks and this example features inspector marks on the lower right side of the flap. Implement pocket is intact as is inner flap. Tins were removed and it was lined with sheepskin. Original sling is present with round eagle breastplate. Box exhibits crazing throughout with scattered scuffs and areas of loss. Strap and box remain supple. The box is accompanied by an M1855 bayonet and scabbard. Bayonet exhibits a chocolate patina with with supple scabbard in similar condition to the cartridge box. Lastly, there is a Civil War belt with ca. 1863-1865 Regulation 1839 Pattern belt plate with arrow hooks. The back of the belt exhibits carved initials with a possible unit marking. Belt is supple with nice patina to plate. CONDITION: Good.
