Originally manufactured circa 1944, this carbine has been converted to fire the 10mm Auto cartridge by Willard L. Hafler of Pennsylvania circa early 1990s. An included 1992 letter from Hafler to Larry Ruth discusses the conversion in depth and notes that at the time only 6 guns were built. It is doubtful many were made after. This example has a rebored original Marlin barrel with import marking. Milled front sight and "PI" adjustable rear. Mixed internals with a Rock-ola flat bolt, “N9” early slide, and flip safety. Unmarked low-wood walnut stock with 4 rivet hand-guard retained by a bayonet lug band. Complete with 2 custom modified 10mm magazines. The aforementioned letter discussing these guns is also reproduced in Ruth's "War Baby II" on page 765. CONDITION: Very good as converted. Arsenal metal finishes show only light to moderate wear. Stocks are very fine with handling marks. Very good, crisp bore. Fine mechanics. PROVENANCE: Larry Ruth Collection
