An interesting example of a circa 1860s bowie knife. The knife is unmarked but features a 9" blade, that appears to have started out with a spearpoint but was modified at some time in its life and now exhibits a clip point. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes, with 1 large chunk missing on the obverse side toward the guard that possibly reveals file teeth. Wide iron crossguard with matching patina. Wood grip that is checkered on 1 side. Grip exhibits scattered cracks and abrasions. Square iron pommel. 14 - 1/2" overall. The knife is possibly Confederate or a frontier knife. CONDITION: Good.
