This gun resided at the Wild West Museum & Franklin Antique Mall that was housed in the 1910 Franklin National Guard Armory in Franklin Pa. that closed almost a decade ago. The collection belonged to Dan Hardesty Sr (deceased) The gun is a Winchester Model 1886 lightweight rifle with a round barrel, half magazine, sporting sights, finished in chrome with a molded faux ivory stock and a Winchester black plastic butt plate. There are two sets of Winchester barrel legends on left side that are still quite legible. The gun dates to 1908, making this a fairly early .33 caliber which was introduced in 1902. Dan attributed this rifle to famed Hollywood cowboy Ken Maynard but we can provide no documents or photographs supporting this claim. That said, it is the kind of flashy rifle you might expect from a silver screen cowboy star. CONDITION: Excellent as custom finished retaining nearly all of the chrome plating. The stock is excellent with a few mars. Action works fine and the bore is well defined but frosted. This is one stand out rifle.
