Originally manufactured at Harpers Ferry Arsenal in standard configuration with lock dated 1845 and barrel tang dated 1846 near breech. Left side of barrel is marked with VP eagle proof and "AH/P" inspector mark. Period cut down to a musketoon length and pinched front sight installed. CONDITION: Good, with barrel and iron assemblies turned a gray-brown patina with evidence of heavy use near breech. Lock retains most of it's added finish. Stock has been sanded, had a sling swivel installed and removed near buttplate, and has piece missing near tang, but is otherwise solid. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark.
