This desirable M2 .50 caliber Browning machine gun was manufactured by the Savage Arms Company as so marked on the right sideplate. Wood charging handle and backplate handles. In addition to the complete gun itself, this lot includes a snap-on belt link chute, short link segment of .50 BMG display cartridges, belt loading machine, original Bausch & Lomb Opt Co sight dated 1940, spare barrel with carrying bail, original 1944 dated tripod manufactured by “Central Steel Tube Co”, and fitted two Pelican cases. Electronic NFA registry indicates “BROWNING” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is extremely fine original finish with some gray patina at the high edges with some thinning in places. Wood is extremely fine with some light handling marks. Bores of both barrels are extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. This is a full-auto only machine gun. Any of the WWII produced Browning .50 caliber machine guns command a premium in the collector community. These guns are among the most desirable of all machine guns because of their commanding presence on the range and the excellent durability of their design. No other machine gun has had the longevity of the Browning .50 caliber in service. It was in service when this cataloger’s Grandfather was in military service, and remains in service today. They resonate with historical machine gun enthusiasts in addition to being a gun one can take to the range occasionally and enjoy. This is a great specimen of a true American military classic machine gun. A real opportunity for the discerning and forward-thinking collector/investor.
