The L.C. Smith Gun Company, subsidiary of Marlin Firearms Company made 3,829 L.C. Smith Shotguns of all gauges from May 27, 1946 to June 19, 1950, beginning with serial number FWS 1 and ending in serial number FWS 56,800, making this an early post war production field grade gun that features the case color side lock action, blued barrels with solid rib, double triggers, manual extractor, 2 3/4" chambers choked Modified and Modified with 30" barrels. The stock is checkered walnut, pistol grip with cap and black plastic butt plate. Matching splinter forearm. Matching numbers. CONDITION. Excellent. Retains nearly all the brilliant case colors, 99% bright blue on trigger guard with light handling marks, 98% of the re-applied blue on barrels with a few age freckles. The blue has a textured finish, much like that found on the gun spray finish. Stocks are excellent with some minor impressions. Lock up is tight. Both strikers engage. Bores are bright.
