Vintage 1950s men's felt custom cowboy hat. Labeled on sweatband: 'VALENTINE / THE HATTER / HATMAKER / LOS ANGELES.' Personalized: "Made especially for MAJ C BAUMGARTEN / LOS ANGELES, CALIF." Valentine McMenamin apprenticed with John B. Stetson from 1899 to 1903, and was a popular hatmaker with the Hollywood western crowd once he established his own business after he came West. Rim 4 1/2", height 6", size 7 5/8. CONDITION: Very good. Light period wear with only a few tiny moth nips observed.
