Purchased by the government for Army use during the war. The two piece walnut grips have the "BH" cartouche for Benjamin Hannis. There are several scattered sub inspector stamps such as "C" and "W". Features an octagon barrel, brass trigger guard, and cone front sight. Top of barrel has the two line Remington legend. Finish was blue. CONDITION: Very good. The grips are excellent with strong cartouche. Barrel legends are sharp. Brass has toned. Balance of metal is a butter smooth patina with scattered freckles and handling marks. The action is smooth. The bore is extremely well defined with light residue. A really clean Civil War veteran.
