Garof, Edinburgh, Dec. 1810. 20 X 12 1/2 in. (view); 19 3/8 x 12 in. (platemark), within UV-glazed frame. The late sergeant major of the Royal Regiment of Edinburgh Volunteers (or “Blue Regiment” from the color of their uniforms) is shown pointing his sergeant’s cane or rattan towards his corps, which is drawn up before the city on his right, with Edinburgh Castle to his rear. CONDITION: very good to excellent, no visible flaws.
