November 12th 2011 Doll Sale (15)
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/11/2011
Ca. 1882-1884. German bisque shoulder head incised 1028 for Alt, Beck & Gottschalck (break and glue on one side of shoulder), blonde hair in 1880s hairstyle, tapered 1-stroke brown eyebrows, blue painted eyes with white dot highlight, black eyelash line and molded upper eyelids, closed mouth with lip shading strokes; cloth body with leather arms (wear on hands and fingers) and a wooden button activating a bellows which sings “Sweet Bye and Bye” printed in purple ink on torso, but now just makes a squeak., doesn’t sing anymore. Also marks stamped on her rear just about impossible to read, but Coleman’s Doll Encyclopedia shows the stamp to read The Webber Doll with a large number of patent dates. The Webber Singing doll originally came with a wax over composition head, so apparently this head is an antique replacement. Very nicely dressed with antique shoes.
Condition: (Good).
