Ca. 1882Each hemispherical with a wavy rim, extensively chased and embossed with swirling seaweed and rocaille work, one with tritons and seahorses, the other with mermaids, the decoration continuing to domed bases on four low feet, all on a spot-hammered ground; both with raised presentation inscriptions inside the bowl. Each with a plain gilt liner, marked, and a gilt-metal mesh cover. Both apparently in good condition; dents to both liners; some signs of wear to both sides of liners.Diameter: 12; height: 7 in; weight including silver liners: 187 oz.Triton bowl: 80 oz.; liner: 23.5 oz.Mermaid bowl: 80 oz.; liner: 24 oz.Mesh covers unmarked (fit over the top of the liners) & not included in weight.
