Lot consists of: (A) Eihandgranaat No. 1 was developed by the Dutch prior to World War II. After invading The Netherlands in 1940 the German army took over the remaining stocks of egg-grenades renaming them "handgranate 312 (h)”. In excellent condition with the cap and base plug both present, it is a good example of the Dutch weaponry of the time. (B) An attractive early Dutch grenade, this is the Eihandgranaat No. 3 Offensive. Manufactured from the 1930’s into World War II, it is made of thin (0.3mm) sheet steel, with the same pull-friction fuze as the No. 1. This has the green paint as used after 1937. After Holland was occupied in 1940, the Germans took over the remaining Dutch stocks. This grenade is in excellent condition, with the cap intact and the pull string still present. The paint is fine, with markings clear.
