Lot consists of (A) Shako of the 16th Lancers with elaborate plate and numerous battle honors, the latest being South Africa from 1900-1902, and the British Royal Arms. Gilt brass lined head holding chin scales. Hat size 6 - 3/4", retailed by J. Compton and Sons, Ltd. Inside stamped War Department to 1914. CONDITION: Fair condition throughout. (B) Purporting to be a Napoleonic shako with lozenge shaped front plate and initials FR for Frederick Rex. Most likely much later but still very attractive. CONDITION: Fair throughout, missing one lion head and half of the chinstrap.
