Lot consists of: (A) Rock Island Arsenal marked M1904 girth cinch for the McClellan saddle. (B) M1874 Butler-Varney horse sidelines (hobbles) with spring snap closures. (C) M1859 saddle crupper. Cruppers were used to help keep saddles from slipping. Marked by J.B. Sickles and Company of St. Louis, who had army contracts throughout the war for numerous forms of leather gear and cavalry equipment. Sickles stamp is still visible. (D) M1904 leather cavalry gaiters. This pattern continued in use through WWI. E) Civil War cavalry carbine thimble. Constructed of heavy harness leather, flared at each end with a double framed japanned iron buckle.) F) Civil War cavalry carbine thimble or "boot". CONDITION: Leather is supple and only shows slight surface crazing. BRM.
