Lot consists of: (A) Diary kept by P.W. Kimball, Co. A Chicago Light Artillery. Morocco leather cover embossed "Diary 1864", named in cover, pencil script written by Kimball in the field. The entries are a day by day chronicle of Kimball's experiences during the war including the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain and the Battle of Atlanta. Entry on each page with clear writing. CONDITION: As expected, the covers show staining and general wear, commensurate with a diary carried in the field. (B) Civil War percussion cap box, inked under the outer flap "W . H. McComb Foxcraft ME". Box retains a handful of percussion caps. CONDITION: Leather shows wear and light crazing. (C) Confederate $100 note dated 1864. CONDITION: Very good with minor creases and edge wear. (D) Civil War period wood alarm rattle. CONDITION: Good, showing general wear and minor losses. (E) GAR kepi with gold cord chin strap and eagle side buttons. CONDITION: Good, exterior with rips and losses to the wool, interior with partial sweatband. (F) GAR and United Spanish War Veterans membership medals in excellent condition. (G) .45 Govt, bullet mold showing areas of light pitting. Included in the lot are a number of Civil War and later pieces of ephemera including miscellaneous GAR documents and letters, two glass lantern slides depicting Guilford Battery, photo group of the launching of a US Navy ship during World War I, brass face from a Pattern 1839 belt plate, early wood canteen in poor condition, 2 reproduction "US" buckles, 1890's period rectangular officer's belt plate, 3" solid shot cannon ball and miscellaneous coins and tokens. CONDITION: Unless noted, material is generally in very good condition. DG
