Attractive J. Brennan & Sons coffin handled bowie knife with a massive 12" clip point blade marked "J. Brennan & Sons" engraved in elegant script on the spine. False edge on the clip. Short ricasso marked "No 14". Blade remains bright with great finish and only light blemishes. Scalloped nickel silver crossguard. Silver wrapped coffin handle with ivory grip scales with silver bowtie escutcheons on both sides held in place by silver pins. Beautifully engraved throat and pommel. Light patina to hilt with light handling wear. Complete with its leather scabbard that features elegant silvered mounts which are nicely engraved to compliment the hilt. Round stud on upper mount Mounts exhibit a pleasing patina with smooth intact leather. Also known for their craftsmanship of flintlock rifles, this J. Brennan & Sons knife reflects the quality of their work. This blade would compliment a display with one of their rifles, which would tie the gun and knife world together. CONDITION: Very good.
