Manufactured in 1941, some rifles in the "B" prefix serial number block are known to have been in USMC possession during World War II. Standard 23" parkerized barrel, protected blade front sight, and adjustable peep sight graduated to 1000 meters. Barrel bushing marked ".30-06" and "41" with a 7-row perforated heat shield. Bolt is from the "B" production block although does not match the rifle serial number, a common occurrence as these rifles are believed to have been assembled at the factory without care to match internal numbers. Receiver stamped on top with maker, model, and patent information, and with "CRANSTON / ARMS" logo at the rear. Walnut stocks are of the pattern used on Winfield Arms "Standard Sporters". An ill fitting military butt plate and aftermarket rear sling swivel have been added at some point. CONDITION: Good. Rifle retains strong traces of what appears to be original finish, fading to a gray brown patina. Stocks have some scattered dings but no sign of major distress. Bore has worn but visible rifling and heavy frosting. Fine mechanics.
