APPLE VENDOR CO. 5¢ COIN-OPERATED APPLE VENDOR New Way Manufacturing Co. • Seattle, Washington • Circa 1929 FRESH APPLES — VENDED FOR A NICKEL A rare and wonderfully unusual piece of early American vending history, this coin-operated Apple Vendor was designed to automatically dispense a fresh whole apple for just 5¢. Manufactured by New Way Manufacturing Co. of Seattle, the machine’s glass display allowed customers to see the fresh apples inside before depositing their nickel and operating the mechanical vending system. This beautifully restored example features its striking dark green finish, period-style pinstriping, “APPLES” marquee, glass display chamber and intricate mechanical dispensing mechanism. Nearly a century later, these unusual machines are seldom encountered and remain highly desirable examples of the ingenuity and visual appeal of early American coin-operated vending. 5¢. ONE FRESH APPLE. NEARLY 100 YEARS OF AMERICAN VENDING HISTORY. Apple Vendor Co. New Way Manufacturing Co. • Seattle, Washington Circa 1929.
