This is an original tin country store display piece for the Barber Match Company out of Akron, Ohio, called "Race Match". A very interesting but not socially appropriate front decal showing "5 Races 5 Colors 5 Cents.", with illustrations of an American Indian maiden, a African woman, a Malaysian woman, a Mongolian woman and a Caucasian woman in the middle. An extremely interesting match tin from the late 1800's, but extremely inappropriate by modern standards. The top has most likely been repainted, the sides and paint are in original black paint with the front red pinstriping, and the front graphic is in 90% condition. An amazing survivor and a very interesting piece of our advertising history.
