A bronze pancake lock prototype. "P. R. R. MARKET CAR" is nicely embossed in fancy font on lightly pebbled background on the face of the lock. Tag on lock reads "Pennsylvania RR Market Car; Prototype, Pre-finished; From Miller Lock Co., Philadelphia; only one known; no pin; 1870 - 1890'. Lock shows little evidence of RR use and has a nice, age-earned patina. There are three push keys included with this lot.
Condition: (Excellent).
