This fantastic knife was recently discovered and has not been previously recorded or illustrated. This rare example has a dark horn handle rather than the more common ivory handles typically encountered. The knife is circa 1830's. The straight back blade has a 11-3/16” sharpened false edge ground mainly from the right side, marked "SCHIVELY, 75 CHESNUT ST., PHILAD" on left side at top. One piece checkered handle of dark horn with nickel silver pommel, ferrule, pins, washers and S-guard. Leather sheath with incised decorations and nickel silver throat, tip and top and bottom edge protectors are now absent. CONDITION: Blade in excellent original condition, showing almost all of original polish with some minor areas of hazing. Handle excellent with no chips or cracks. Sheath’s original leather surface somewhat flaked, top mount missing stud. A fresh to the market knife in remarkable condition. DMG
