Circa 1785-1800, this rare sword has a straight tapered single edged blade with false edge and deep narrow fuller on each side. Spine marked "W ROSE" near top of blade. Brass hilt with counter branch on right side of guard, round turned pommel with capstan. Cherry grip with brass ferrule at each end. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with brass mount. CONDITION: Blade retains a dark, heavy brown patina and marking is excellent. Hilt retains a dark mustard patina, grip excellent. Scabbard has a portion missing at tip and has some holes and deterioration, brass mount has a mustard patina and shows minor denting. A very scarce and attractive early Rose-marked sword. DMG.
