Lot #1325:
SMALL CAST IRON DEMONSTRATER OR SALESMAN SAMPLE SAFE
Fine miniature safe or salesman’s demonstration model, constructed in the form of a full-size late 19th- to early 20th-century commercial safe. The rectangular cabinet is finished in high-gloss black with decorative green and gold pinstriping surrounding the case and door.
The heavy front door is fitted with a polished combination dial, turned metal operating handle, substantial exterior hinges and decorative painted flourishes. Of particular interest is the exposed interior of the door, displaying an elaborate working-style locking mechanism with polished metal boltwork, multiple locking bars and a brass lock case—an impressive mechanical detail that would have demonstrated the construction and security features of the full-size safe.
The cabinet stands on four short rounded feet and opens to a wood-lined interior, with the warm natural wood providing an attractive contrast to the black lacquered exterior.
A particularly appealing miniature safe with excellent visual presence and unusually detailed lockwork, likely made as a salesman’s sample, display model, or demonstration piece for the safe trade. Combination is available.
This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.
