Lot consists of a fur chest and miscellaneous silver pieces that are former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. (A) Small fur chest that measures approximately 10" x 5 - 1/2" with small brass nameplate that reads "LT. COL. PHILIP P. HATHAWAY / FREETOWN, MASS". (B) Silver presentation cup inscribed to "D.K. Hitchcock. / D.D.S. / Presented by his Friends / July 4th 1853.". The cup features elegant scenes and is hallmarked "E. CUTLER." and "BOSTON / PURE COIN SILVER". (C) Silver presentation cup marked with initials "BMJ". Hallmarked on bottom "GMJ". (D) 2 silver spoons monogrammed "DR Hancock" and hallmarked "B. PITMAN". (E) 4 silver spoons monogrammed "Longfellow" and hallmarked "H.R. TAYLOR". According to Lattimer, this is for American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. All silver exhibits a nice patina with age-related wear. Fur chest exhibits areas of fur loss with intact lining that is tarnished. CONDITION: Good.
