33-5/8" curved blade with partial double fullers running approximately 3/4 of the length of the blade. Blade is elaborately decorated with patriotic motifs including an eagle with an "E Pluribus Unum" banner, stands of arms, and a stylized "U.S" all interwoven with florals. Cast and chased guard with slashes and florals, interior with an eagle over 13 stars. Fishskin grip with single strand of braided brass wire. Pommel with an American shield over crossed sabers. Plain steel scabbard with brass throat, two hangers, and drag. Hanger decorated with more florals while drag has more slashes. CONDITION: Good. Blade has been cleaned but decoration is still readily visible. Guard has some marks from handling and use but complete. Wrap is good with some rubbing and one crack running along the spine. Scabbard is good and appears to have been cleaned as well, with some scattered marks and areas of pitting, but fits the sword well. EW. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport.
