Lot consists of a nice GAR uniform including a 4 button tunic with a "N. SNELLENBURG & CO." uniform maker's label. Buttons have been resewn. There is also a white belt with brass GAR buckle. Hat with partial label under sweatband and GAR insignia. The initials "J.B." are written in ink under the sweatband. Lastly, there is an M1872 sword that is marked "HORSTMANN / PHILADELPHIA" on the ricasso. The sword exhibits a moderate patina throughout with areas of oxidation on the scabbard and hilt. An 1893 dated letter was found in the pocket of the tunic and is written by John H. Bronson, who served during the Civil War in the 61st New York Volunteers. The letter corresponds to the initials found in the hat. CONDITION: Good.
