VERY RARE SIGNED UBU KATAKAMA YARI WITH ABALONE SHAFT
Measures 46cm from tip to base of shaft, with a 17.9cm fluke. The jihada is a flowing masame with a suguha hamon, with nie activity throughout including sunagashi, inazuma, hakkikake, with chikei in the jie, aranie, and a spot of tobiyaki in the ji. 79cm nagako, ubu with two mekugi-ana, signed "Hisayuki". Accompanied by a 71 - 1/2" wooden pole, with a reinforced section of shaft 14 - 3/4" at the head, inlaid with abalone and reinforced with metal rings and rope binding, while the reverse has an iron tip. CONDITION: Excellent, in recent polish by Moses Becerra, while shows off features well. Modern shirasya with some moderate handling marks that do not detract. Shaft shows age, with lifting of abalone throughout and handling marks and throughout the shaft, including a 10 - 1/4" splice repair and one split metal ring at head.
