Bruce Cunningham was a World War II fighter pilot, flying missions in Africa and Japan, having joined the Army Air Corps at the age of 18, becoming one of its youngest fighter pilots. Bruce was recalled to action for the Korean Conflict. In 1949 he won the U.S. Air Force Thompson trophy. He was instrumental in the redesigning of the horizontal stabilizer on the F-86 Sabre jet, retiring as a Lt. Col. in 1961. Lot includes: B3 flight jacket, Type A3 flight pants, a pair of flight boots all showing moderate wear. Also includes flight gloves, gun cleaning kit and web cartridge belt. Col. Cunningham flew missions in WWII flying P40’s, P51’s, and P47’s.
