A near identical copy of the German MG-42, Yugoslavia began producing the M53 General Purpose Machine Gun utilizing original German machinery at the Zastava shortly after the conclusion of World War II. This kit consists of a M53 barrel shroud housing a German Spreewerke "cyq" marked MG-42 barrel and being mounted with a top cover bearing the Yugoslavian coat of arms as well as a feed tray. Other components include a trigger housing assembly, booster assembly, wood buttstock, recoil spring, bolt assembly, bolt guide rails, an 80% in-the-white receiver, basket drum magazine containing links, as well as a diagram of the MG-42. CONDITION: Metal components show varying degrees of superficial wear overall, with metal components retaining a layer of cosmoline and exhibiting some scattered marks from handling and storage. Barrel exhibits a layer of cosmoline and retains strong rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered marks from handling and storage, with a sizable loss at rear on the top and bottom. Bolt is excellent. An attractive parts kit for one who wishes to either complete their M53 build or have a nice assortment of spare components. MLW
