Rare & Important 18K Pink Gold Gme (Gerome) Hoff & Fils Grande Sonnerie & Petite Sonnerie Quarter-Hour Repeating Hunter Case Pocket Clock-Watch, Circa 1880. The watch is housed in a wonderful heavy pink gold hunter case with beautifully hand engraved/decorated front lid with double shields framed by foliage and flowers. Cuvette is also beautifully hand decorated, and is marked "Repetition, Grande Sonnerie, Remontoir Ancre, ligne droite levees' Visibles, Balancier Compense, Spiral J'sochrone, 35 Rubis, Gme. Hoff & Fils" that opens to reveal the movement under glass. Complications include a quarter-hour passing strike chime that can be set to Grande (strikes hours and quarters), Petite (strikes hours or quarters) or silence. There is also a quarter-hour repeater function that can be activated on demand by sliding the lever located on the outer rim between the 7 and 8 o'clock positions. The case is numbered "23280" & "41276", fully hallmarked and stamped "K18" withing a crown topped shield mark. as is the movement. All functions have been tested and are working properly.
