American or French, circa 1750-1770. Straight tapered triangular blade with inlaid brass floral motifs on back, near ricasso. Solid silver hilt with clam shell guard featuring relief borders. Left side of knucklebow hallmarked with "GA" as well as the back of the guard, along the edge. Top and bottom of pommel have relief rings. Grip is tightly wrapped with twisted silver wire. CONDITION: Blade cleaned bright with scattered areas of darker pitting. Blade probably replaced. Hilt with some slight bending and scattered marks from use. Grip excellent and tight. An attractive 18th century small sword. DMG
