Early Nazi SS “Brownshirt” tunic. This rare tunic is a very early SS tunic from the late 1920’s. There are faint markings inside the collar, but they are illegible. Early collar tabs are machine sewn to the collar with black thread. Left side rank tab has one pip, and prongs do not go through collar. Right side tab is blank. Right side shoulder has black and white shoulder board, sew in style. Top of shoulder board appears to have been attached with a brown glue to the bottom half, at some point, but it was long ago. Seam inside jacket near shoulder board appears to have been opened at some time and sewn with green thread. The rest of the tunic has been assembled with a golden brown thread. Nazi armband is likely to have been added in the early 1930’s. The top of armband is machine sewn around its entire circumference. Lower end of armband is spot sewn down on the front, and sewn down near the rear seem. Tag inside the armband states “vom Reichsfuehrer SS befohlene Ausfuehrung”, with a pair of SS runes on the left in a circle on the left and a “RZM” in a circle on the right. There are six belt hooks sewn into the bottom, with one hook being broken off. The inside of the hook is cloth covered and marked “BOBI Ges.gesch.”. Inside shoulder area is lined in an off white cotton, and is marked with a “54 42”. There are three nickel plated steel buttons on the front and one on each side pocket. Light aging through and jacket seems to be unworn. A very rare and desirable early SS “Brownshirt” jacket.
Condition: (Excellent).
