The head measures 25" in length, pierced blade 9 - 1/4" across, central spike 15 - 1/2" with a 2 - 3/4" fluke. Halberd is in unusually fine condition with minor pitting and only minor exfoliation. Straps are intact. 93" overall. CONDITION: Shaft is possibly the original with blackened finish and some 16th century carving just below one strap. Old museum number 5869. A very handsome piece still retaining what appears to be an early faceted metal ferrule at base. PROVENANCE: FORMER COLLECTION OF THE NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART
