An unusually large and seldom found example, made of wood and on a fully articulated wooden body with straight wrists. Dressed as a dapper gentleman with his top hat he has a certain undefinable appeal? The facial features are nicely executed, blown glass blue eyes, and having painted hair. Unfortunately at some point many years ago someone coated him with a clear shellac which has yellowed with age. Quite possibly careful cleaning could remove this overcoat of shellac? An interesting doll often attributed to German or French manufacture. Although not as valuable as other dolls in her possession Vera had a particular liking to this fellow and it held a place of honor in her doll cases.
