Probably English. Mahogany with oak and pine secondary woods. circa 1770. Elaborate carving including gadrooning on apron which flows into Rococo style acanthus leaves and C-scrolls on the knees and extending down the front of the legs terminating in well-executed ball and claw feet. Interior pockets under the hinged top. Missing interior felt. One rear leg knee return replaced. Several screws added to knee returns. Drawer guides rebuilt and interior of drawer possibly rebuilt. Appears to retain the original brasses. Various repairs and rebuilt drawer runner. Veneer damage to skirt. Nicely grained mahogany and very fine carved elements.
