Measures 8-1/4" in length with a 3-1/4" cutting edge and a 3-1/2" pick. Hand forged iron construction with a steel cutting edge and two lobes, a lobe on each side of the oval eye. The ax blade is of early form, perhaps 1770. CONDITION: Probably dug, retaining a heavy, corroroded surface with some losses to lobe on right side.
