Original tricorn hats are exceedingly rare, and were popular for a relatively short window from 1750-1800, making surviving specimens exceedingly rare. Made of thick wool and features cockade, felted edging, and ribbons. Cockade is metal and features a rosette pattern. Inside of hat features floral pattern. CONDITION: Fine overall, some nap on ribbons and some high edge wear on liner. Leather sweatband is present but heavily deteriorated. Measures approximately 10" on two sides, 15" on third side, 6" tall. Hats like this are exceptionally rare with a very low survival rate and finding one intact makes it quite desirable.
EXCEEDINGLY RARE 18TH CENTURY EUROPEAN TRICORN HAT.
