Circa 1750, this sword has a straight triangular colichemarde blade with traces of decoration at top. Fine pierced solid silver hilt. Round guard decorated with pierced and chased scrolls, birds, and flag motifs. Pommel is also pierced and features arms motifs on both sides. The knucklebow is decorated with chased scrolls in the center and is marked on the top left side with four English hallmarks. The decorative grip is wrapped with bands of gilded silver alternating with finely braided strands of silver wire. CONDITION: Blade has been polished and has some bending and damage at the top, on the left side. Hilt is excellent showing light wear and a grey patina. Grip is excellent. A very attractive and ornate example made for a wealthy officer. DMG
