Single-Sided Painted Wood. C. 1910s. An extremely rare piece of Bakersfield and Mohawk history. Until recently the only known examples of Mohawk "Down Feathered" advertising pieces were the 30" porcelain sign and the 16" porcelain paddle sign. There were no other known pieces of advertising, no globes, cans or station ephemera. This piece was recently discovered in San Francisco flipped upside down being repurposed as a paint and storage shelf. Sign shows "Hawk" at the left with a cut left edge, and at the right the iconic Mohawk "Down Feather" graphic. Sign also features its original iron hardware at the top and bottoms. CONDITION: Sign shows a beautiful age and patina throughout the surface with heavy crackling to the paint. The left edge showing a cut. Graphic and lettering in very good condition, showing light general age wear. A significantly unique and rare piece of early California signage from one of the holy grail companies of the hobby.

This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.

Condition: (Original).

Item Dimensions: 75 - 1/2" x 13 - 1/4" x 3/4".
