FREDERIC REMINGTON'S "THE RATTLESNAKE" CAST IN 1000 OZ OF SILVER
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/20/2026
Stunningly detailed fine sculpture cast in 1000+ Troy oz. of .999 silver after Frederic Remington's "Bronco Buster" that was originally created in 1895. Cast at the Maiden Foundry in 1989 using a mold created from Frederic Remington's Bronco Buster #275, held in the collection of the Frederic Remington Art Museum. This example has developed a nice mellow patina over the years. The sculpture was hand chased by a master craftsman under the direct supervision of Silversmiths Group U.S.A., and has passed the standards set forth by the Frederic Remington Art Museum and Liberty Mint. From an edition of 100 in pure silver, 5 museum proofs, and one solid 24K gold sculpture. This example is #3/100. After the sculptures were cast, the mold was retired and placed in the museum, never to be used again. With the price of silver reaching record numbers, this is not only a great investment piece, but is displayable western art as well. Underside of base reads: "THE RATTLESNAKE / REC NO. 3/100 / CAST FROM FREDERIC REMINGTON'S / ORIGINAL MASTERPIECE / 1000 OZ. FINE SILVER .999 PURE / AUTHORIZED BY FREDERIC REMINGTON MUSEUM / SILVERSMITHS GROUP U.S.A. / LIBERTY MINT / THE MAIDEN FOUNDRY / 1989"
Provenance: Frederic Remington Art Museum, Ogdensburg, New York.
