German World War II Waffen SS Officer's visor cap constructed in a Feldgrau tricot wool, with a couple of tiny areas of very light moth tracking, but which are barely noticeable. The black velvet center band appears undamaged, other than it has been slightly crushed from the front (also noticeable on the sweatband and cap body). The chin cord has made some slight impressions on the velvet from storage, but is minor. The chin cord is a late war celluloid type with very light wear from storage and some age toning. The piping of the visor is made from a white wool wrapped cording which shows some light age toning. Both the eagle and skull are made from cupal. The eagle appears to be made by Wagner and the skull by Zimmermann. Both pieces appear to be original to the cap with matching wear/ patina, with the skull being pinned through the liner and presenting green oxidation on both the liner and inside of the sweatband. The exterior of the visor exhibits light wear and damage, and the interior has very light wear. The right side of the visor is detached from the body/ sweatband approximately an inch with treads remaining, and this happened because the cap was crushed at some point. The liner of the visor is made of a grey, late war rayon material. The lining is intact and has a large water stain towards the front, and a large medium spot in the center. A size stamp of "57" is present. The medium brown leather sweat band is in excellent condition with no cracks, and has a few creases and nicks. An original maker's label is stapled inside the right side of the sweatband. An unique opportunity to own a great example of a Waffen SS officer's cap. CONDITION: Overall excellent. WEZ
