Most likely crafted by John Goode, these relics are mounted on a flat wooden plaque measuring approximately 6" by 3" by 3". Label on reverse states that the matchbox is from a post from the Cordori Farm. The set contains a small inkwell, a wood stopper flanked by a canister ball that reads "Gettysburg 1863", and a fragment of shrapnel that reads "Culp's Hill". Behind the inkwell is a federal Infantry "Eagle I" button. All pieces are in good condition and exhibit a pleasing patina. Wood with nice color and scattered blemishes. John Goode was a Gettysburg cabinetmaker who worked on wood projects for many of the local residents. He was a prominent assembler of relic displays and owned a small shop on Race Horse Alley off Chambersburg Street. His relic displays are quite desirable. PROVENANCE: Former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. CONDITION: Good.
