Tastefully mounted check signed by Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis. The check is paid to W.S. Walton who seems to be associated with the New American Cyclopedia. Dated "27 Dec 1871", the check exhibits light stains with a tear at center at Walton's name, and a cross shaped punch, most likely for voiding the check. Lower right corner is torn. Graphics and ink exhibit moderate fading but all writing is legible. The check is framed with an engraving of Jefferson Davis. Frame measures approximately 16" x 11". The check comes with a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. CONDITION: Good.
