SSP. A nice example of this C. 1940's two-piece single sided porcelain sign from Esso Aviation Products featuring an impressive winged graphic in the center. This sign is made up of two separate porcelain pieces, which have a small overlap in the center to form one large and impressive sign. CONDITION: The field of the sign retains nice colors and gloss throughout. There are a handful of small porcelain chips in the field, as well as, areas of scuffing and oxidation staining, which is most noticeable in the white background. The outer edges of the sign show chipping to the mounting holes, as we as very minor bending to the metal. There are a few areas of porcelain loss around the outer border with white and occasionally blue touch up. This touch up is minor and was likely applied to keep rust from spreading. Overall, a seldom seen and substantial piece of petroliana history.
