Comprising: (A) Circa 1790 Stirrup-Hilted Non-Commissioned-Officer's Sword. Curved single-fullered unengraved blade. Brass stirrup hilt with faceted ovoid pommel. Wooden grip. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with some darker spotting. Hilt retains a dark, unpolished mustard patina and grip is very good with some minor chipping at base. (B) Early Naval Officer's Eagle Head Pommel Short Saber with Scabbard. Curved blade with wide partial fuller on both sides. Blade engraved with Liberty cap and stand of arms on one side and a patriotic eagle on the other. Original leather washer at top between blade and guard. Gilt brass hilt was counterguard on right side and chased eagle head pommel. Ring at top of knuckle bow near intersection with pommel. Reeded ivory grip. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains a mostly grey patina with traces of blue and gilt decoration. Hilt retains a dark mustard patina with about 30-40% original gilt finish. Grip shows some smoothed minor chipping around pommel. Scabbard shows some minor surface cracks and scuffing, drag is absent. Other mounts retain generous amounts of gilt finish. An attractive group of Federal American swords. DMG.
