Late 18th or early 19th century. Comprising: A) Large iron mounted fighting dirk of 16-1/2" overall with a tapered, double-edged diamond-section blade of 11-3/4". Iron guard is "S" shaped. Ebony handle has a fluted section followed. by section of relief turnings. CONDITION: Blade retains a spotted grey patina. Guard retains a matching patina. Grip very good. B) Brass mounted dirk of 14" overall with a double-edged diamond-section blade of 9-1/4". Thick shaped brass guard, inscribed on top with initials "C Y". The round horn handle is tapered at both ends and has a brass pommel cap and a brass ferrule at base. CONDITION: Very good, blade retains a grey patina, tip slightly rounded. Brass retains a pleasing dark patina, horn handle very good. A nice lot if two large early dirks. DMG
