Smith & Wesson Schofield Model 3 revolver with 8" barrel. Serial number 21527 found on butt and assembly number 480 found on frame under grip barrel and cylinder. 2 piece walnut grips with brass escutcheons. CONDITION: Fair with the exterior being a mottled blue and patina finish over numerous scratches and areas of minor period pitting. Upon disassembly traces of the original nickel finish are revealed under the grips, rear of cylinder, and recoil shield face. Grips are believed to be period gunsmith replacements. The bore is quite good with sharp rifling. The locking latch sticks and needs to be closed manually. An attractive cowboy Smith & Wesson of the period. TDW
