High quality quartz or hardstone allowed an artistic license to the ancient maker of this axe resulting in a raised groove masterpiece. The crisp, "raised" groove edges, and incredibly well-balanced form and symmetry, place this axe within the best that have ever been found in Tennessee. From the David Dougherty collection. Found in Cocke County, Tennessee.
