Continental church figure with shoulder head of what appears to be a plaster-type papier-mâché with inset dark glass eyes, molded upper eyelids and detailed modeling of nose and mouth, (restoration to head), tightly glued on mohair wig with braided bun in back; carved wood body with joints (hands refinished), painted lower legs (paint worn on legs) with glued on red cardboard sandal soles and straps. Newly made purple velvet Tudor-style costume copied from a portrait of Princess Marie von Sachsen, in 1546 by Cranach the Younger. Wonderful early doll with 2 blue ribbons.
